First Ten Days of 2010 - Day One
“There is a time for everything… Ecclesiastes 3: 1
May this New Year be a time to welcome friends who understand us and still want to spend time with us; may our families be a source of strength and a refuge when times are tough. Give us this year time to reflect and time to respond; a time to forgive unconditionally and a time to be forgiven; a time to be swift to hear and obey and a time to grow in virtue and grace; a time to do work of real value and a time for leisure with little to do.
Grant us time to laugh and a time when our tears are cleansing; a time for celebration and a time for quiet meditation; a time to cross goal lines and a time to sit patient in the presence of God; a time to teach and a time to be taught; a time to bare burdens and a time share them with others; a time to lift and a time to lean; a time to risk name, title and position for a cause greater than ourselves; a time to worship and witness and a time to leave and serve those who cannot bless us back; a time to love and a time to be loved; a time to keep and a time to let go; and a time to be, instead of doing, a time to just be…
Thank you Lord for times past and the gift of times to come. Help us to use the time of this New Year wisely, and the people of God say, Amen.
Day one: Spend the time wisely
