Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Romans 8:5
Sometimes we want what we want. I know I do. So what happens when what we want is not according to what the Spirit desires or wills. According to this passage of scripture, we begin to live according to the sinful nature and thus become unable to please God. What’s wrong with the sinful nature? It leads to death and keeps us bound to old and negative things. It does not lead to freedom and life, the two things Jesus came to give us freely.
If we are in Christ, we are no longer bound by sin, nor are we slaves to it. In Christ, we have been set free. However, the process does not stop there. Jesus set us free, but we have to walk in it. We have to choose to walk upright, seeking God’s will for our life, not the life we choose on our own and certainly not the one set by the world’s standard. How do you become acquainted with the will of the Spirit for your life? You spend time in His presence. Here are just a few ways you do that:
We have the assurance that we are no longer dead in the law of sin through Christ Jesus. Because of his sacrifice when have moments of relapse into that former death state, we have the ability to get back into relationship and life again…and again…and again.
Father, in every area of our life we want to be in line with the will of the Spirit and not the flesh. We repent for wanting what we want. As we delight ourselves in you, give us the desires of our heart. We can to be pleasing to you. Amen
Think about it:
In what areas of your life are you seeking your own will?
Are you prepared to walk in the will of the Spirit?

In thinking of myself I am always reminded that God knew me before I knew myself, before my mother knew me, and even before Jesus came to know of me. (Jer 1:5)Since this is the case I realize that God planned for me while the world had not yet even been established. It wasn’t until He literally formed the first human being that my portal to the world was made available. Because Adam sinned I was born into sin, and because Our Father already planned for each of us whaalaaaa, here I be.
It is only because He planned for me that am I able to come to Jesus and be saved from death and extended the gift of a life that is eternal in Him.
I know of the things that I do that are wrong and go against Gods word even without knowing all of His word the wisdom and truth of the HOLY SPIRIT that lives within me INFORMS me silently of these things.
Sometime when a caller calls we check the ID and don’t answer. Sometimes when we would rather go our own way we avoid seeing a person, saying I’m sorry, discussing the issue at hand,or spending our money wisely,we even forget to love our neighbors as ourselves when that neighbor is on the freeway turnoff holding a sign that says “help, hungry, will work for food”.
Our neighbor I do believe also includes that poor dead animal in the street dead,or that friendly looking dog lost cause he got out and don’t know how to get across the street and we refuse to call animal control to come and pick up the remains of the animal or pray and ask God how we can help the lost doggie.
What am I babeling on about? I am saying that I am praying to God to make me conscious of my thoughts in all areas of my life, not only the sinful part of my nature that I am constantly reminded of. I want to be right even in my righteousness. I want to be right even when I think I am right. I do not want to develop a false sense of holiness and righteousness just because I think that have gained control of my flesh/sins if you will.
I am a growing Christian. With each lesson learned God exposes His self and reveals the mystery of His word a liddle bit more to me. So on today I pray that God would come into my heart and take a seat and move me from the possiblity of becoming a lukewarm child of God to one who is on fire. (such a fire would burn away the dross) in order that I may experience the next level in HIM. In order that I may get my mind right, and be prepared fully for HIS return. Amen. I don’t want to think that I have gotten my mind right and then a yr later still doing absolutely wrong things.
