Seeing Is JUST Believing

John 12:20-50

Have you ever been in a situation where someone said they had something for you and you never received it? What about when someone said that they were going to do something for you and they never did it? Tapping your feet and folding your arms, the first thought is “I’ll believe it when I see it!” Unfortunately, sometimes we take on that same attitude with Jesus. Even in our everyday walk in the attempt to become more Christ-like, we often challenge the Heavens due to our unbelief in showering down its blessings upon us to prove the promises made. That may be the case at times, but it should not be the case all of the time.

Crying out as the father did in John 12:37 that we believe, but we need the Lord to help us in our unbelief is a sign that we are aware of our weakened faith. However, we are reminded in II Corinthians 4:18 that “we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal”. So, let’s not be a “Doubting Tom” and miss out on our blessings due to unbelief. Instead, for the sake of receiving our blessings to the fullest, we need to adapt a seeing is JUST believing mentality in hopes of seeing Jesus as the ultimate blessing in our lives.

So, just as the Greeks requested to see Jesus in John 12:21b, many of us have that same request, but not the relationship that entitles us to His presence. A daily dose of prayer, praise, worship, reading and studying His Word opens us up to diligently seek His face and see Him active in our daily lives. It’s no wonder that some of the miracles He performed was in restoring sight to the blind (Matthew 12:22 and Mark 10:51) too many of us are living with our eyes wide shut to Jesus…seeing is JUST believing!
