As Christians, we live in a world where we throw the Bible at any and everyone that tend to accept and live by societal standards; but, we have become avid television show watchers of Judge Judy, Swift Justice, People’s Court, Divorce Court, Court TV and the like. We attempt to convince ourselves that we aren’t judging anyone or any situation; just merely enjoying entertainment. We begin basing our judgment off of observance, personal experiences and other people’s accounts rather than facts. However, we’re no different than the Jewish leaders that showed up at Pilate’s palace with Jesus when we engage in such behaviors. We even have the audacity to judge, but dare not execute anyone. Although we fail to realize that we’ve already executed them based on our words, our actions and our deepest thoughts.
How often do we execute Jesus on a daily basis by our words, our actions and our most intimate thoughts? We profess and proclaim to be followers of Christ, but do our lives align with the words that come out of our mouths? We preach, teach, evangelize, prophesy and pray, yet we negate all of that by misidentifying Jesus. Yes, we know that He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, yet we re-crucify Him through our habitual sins. We hand Him over to the world with watered-down gospel and prosperity preaching, without the mention of salvation, redemption and God’s judgment. We are walking around in chains of tradition, forgetting that have the key to set us free. We are reminded in John 8:32 “then you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”. So as we prepare ourselves to celebrate Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, let us identify Him correctly as THE TRUTH!!!
