Get Back On The Wheel!

potterswheel3Rev. Diane L. Brown

The psalmist said, “The steps of a good man are ordered by God”. The church today is in a time of spiritual awakening and I believe God has ordered us into His re-working process. As he continues to get us into a pliable state, as raw clay, we automatically resist and many times, God has to repeat the process. Growing up, how many times were you been disciplined for the same thing twice because of your resistance?

Many times the process is repeated because we fail to listen, follow direction and adhere to the potter’s process. We serve a process oriented God! He is the potter and we are the clay! Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for your welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” (AMP)

Beloved, God has plan(s) for you! The word plans is plural, meaning that God has many plans in store for you and His plans are not to harm you, but to give you an “expected end”. Throughout this process, God is working diligently to complete the work he began for the bible says “He that began a good work in you shall complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.” The process by which he comes to completion is that of His continuing to re-work His vessel. For those who understand the art of molding clay, you know, that resistant clay will literally, “jump off” the wheel! Due to its uncooperative state it’s just hard to work with!

In our walk with Christ, we too are guilty of “jumping off” the wheel. Many times we just become uncooperative and we’re just hard to work with! But in order for God to complete His desired vessel He needs us “back on the wheel” cooperating in the re-working process. But God is so good, because even when we’re jumping off, his hands quickly scoop us up and places us back on the wheel in our rightful position. What a mighty and gracious God we serve!

Wake up! Aren’t you glad God gives us chance after chance to get it right and get back on the wheel?
