Praycation 2013 – Breathe On Me!

Word for the Day: Breathe
Read- Genesis 2:7

“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

The Breath of Life

Man, without God, is but mere dust of the ground. This verse states that we were formed from it. However, when God breathed into the nostrils of the first dust formed man, something miraculous and marvellous happened. Man became a living being; all because God breathed the breath of life into him.

The same can be said for us today. We are alive, yet we are often not living because we have forgotten how important is to allow God to breathe into us through prayer and meditation. We exhale, telling God all about our problems, concerns and issues, yet we often forget to allow him to breathe life into us in return. Today, allow God to breathe on you in prayer. It may be a song he gives you that quickens your spirit or a timely word, the answers a pressing matter, however His breath comes, it promises to bring life…the breath of life!

Try this- In your quiet time, focus on your breathing. For the count of five, breath out with your mind focused on a pressing concern that you have for today. Then breathe in for a count of five, this time focusing on a bible verse that addresses your prayer concern. Believe by faith that as you “inhale” that word, God himself is breathing into you.

Let Us Pray– Today, God, I lay every prayer concern and burden for you and ask that you breathe on me! I know that your breath brings life and my heart’s desire is to live for you. In Jesus name, Amen.

    Today’s praycation meditation/ reading was just for me! It brought to memory the lyrics of the great Hymn of the Church;

Breathe on me breath of God!
    Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what thou has loved,
And do what thou wouldst do!

    Thank you Bishop!

  3. Standing in the Need of Prayer says:

    This came on my computer.
I am not on Twitter, however,I feel this was directed to me.
I will join your Praycation journey, as I need to dwell more in prayer.
    Scripture reading,is essential.
I have been on a spiritual journey, that although gives me strength, has not been as fulfilling as prayer and fellowship.
