Praycation 2013 – Green Eyed Monster

Word of the Day: Jealousy
Verse of the Day:  What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. James 4:1-2

Jealousy is defined as “resentment towards a perceived rival because of their success or advantage.” This resentment breeds feelings of insecurity, hatred, and fear. It can be so intense that it becomes difficult to function day to day and can lead to strife, even murder. All because we desire that which we do not have.

God is a loving father who cares for all of his children. Just as a good earthly father does not show favorites, neither does God. He does, however, have distinct plans for each our lives. Instead of longing for what another has, we must trust in His plan. Instead of fighting when we feel someone else somehow has an advantage over us, we must trust in God’s love for us and ask for what we want or need. What God has for us, is for us. He will make sure that we have everything we need, and most of what we want. Instead of coveting what another has, celebrate them. Our time and season for celebration will come soon enough.

Does insecurity have you wondering if someone else has a better life than you? Do you long for the things or recognition that another person has? We have all been there but we do not have to stay there. Renew your mind in what God’s word has to say about you. When you truly understand just how important you are to God, you will begin to see the everyday blessings in your life and be thankful.

Let us Pray: Forgive me for all the times I have rejected your provision. Help me to be content in your love, understanding that what you have for me, is for me! In Jesus name, AMEN

Inspiring Others to Expect the Impossible!

Beloved, when that green eyed jealousy raises its ugly head and you cannot celebrate someone else’s success or celebrate another’s gift, take it to the Lord in prayer! God can open doors for you that are closed and close doors that are not for you to open. Pray beyond those green eyed moments to the secure place of God’s love.

Share your prayer experiences in the comment section on this site or on FaceBook and Twitter. Let Tracey and I know that you are still on the journey.
