This is Your Wake Up Call!

Praycation 2013 – Pride and Rescue

Word of the Day: Pride
Verse of the Day: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Proverbs 16:18

Everyone should have a healthy sense of self. It should allow you to be confident and self-assured so that you can be all that God created you to be. However, when this sense of self leads to thinking more highly of one’s self than you should, it becomes dangerous. If left unchecked, it can lead to heartache. Today’s verse states that it can lead to destruction.

We should avoid reaching a place where the only voice we listen to is the one in our head. Everyone, no matter how great, should be accountable to someone. Among us there are those who have gone before us, know more than we do, and have experience that can help us avoid many of life’s pitfalls.

It takes an open heart to hear God’s voice and follow it, under the guidance of others. It takes maturity to admit that you do not have all the answers. It takes trust in God to allow him to lead you without actually seeing the full plan or knowing the next step. In this new day, let us all seek to walk in humility, with a healthy concept of our worth and importance. It will lead to prosperity and honor, rather than destruction or a fall.

Prayer: Lord, I choose to humble myself before you, surrendering my will to yours. Open my eyes to the ways that I have exalted myself above You and others. My desire is to serve You and serve others. I can only do that with healthy self worth and vision of who I am in You. In Jesus name, AMEN

Beloved, I went to see The Butler yesterday. GO SEE IT! I knew going in it would be a heart-grabber but I didn’t know how much I would cry. Go! Below you will find the continuation of the Prayer Guide for the commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s iconic speech.

DAY 2 – 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington and the “I Have A Dream” Speech

“If You, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O LORD, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness…My soul waits for the LORD more than watchmen wait for the morning…put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption. He Himself will redeem…all from their sins.”

Psalm 130:3-8

“For he who has died is freed from sin.” Romans 6:7 “…seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, for in its welfare you will find

your welfare.” Jeremiah 29:7
