Praycation 2013 – Unspeakable Joy

Word of the Day: Joy
Verse of the Day:  You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11(NKJV)

This world is full of uncertainty, wickedness, and sorrow which can feel so stifling. Daily activities can feel like too much to bear. When it gets to be too much we are reminded in God’s word that the joy of the Lord is our strength. During those challenging times, joy is like a breath of fresh air, invigorating and rejuvenating.
Joy is defined as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. One of the best ways to obtain joy, as expressed in today’s verse is spending time in the presence of the Lord. Being with God should give the child of God pleasure and happiness, much like spending time with our earthly loved ones and those who make us feel special.

The other day I received a call from one of the administrators at the college where I work. He called me for something that he needed and yet when I got off the phone with him I realized I received something that I needed from him. Joy. He is so pleasant and encouraging that just a brief phone call left me going “Ah!” and feeling like I could take on the rest of my day. It was like a fresh wind had blown through my office in the two minute conversation. If we can get that feeling from another human being, imagine how much more we can receive by spending time with God’s presence!

I invite you today to spend time in God’s presence. Perhaps gospel music does it for you, or maybe quiet time in meditation and reflection. Or maybe you enjoy reading God’s word a way of getting in his presence. Whatever it takes, get there! You won’t regret it. Then, once you are full of joy, spread it and share it with those around you. Just keep the joy flowing!

Let us Pray: God, help me to experience the joy that comes from being in your presence! Then once I am filled to overflowing, help me to spread around to those I encounter. Let it flow! In Jesus name, AMEN

Beloved find the unspeakable joy through comes from being in the presence of God today. Live, move, speak, and serve in that joy today sharing it with all you encounter. Only a few days left of Pryacation 2013 and already we are planning a special prayer encounter on August 21-23, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. This is your save the date announcement so clear the dates and time on your calendar right now. Plan to join us in person for Praycation next year. Are you up to it? Let me know.
