This is Your Wake Up Call!

Abound in Hope

“… perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Romans 5: 4-5; Read Romans 5: 4-13 (NIV)

I recently attended a Sunday School class and heard the teacher say something I did not agree with. To paraphrase she said, “hopelessness is a good thing.” I sat there for several minutes listening to her reasoning behind this statement but it is in direct conflict with the word of God telling us to abound in hope.
Webster Dictionary defines hope a couple different ways: a) to cherish a desire with anticipation; b) trust; c) to desire with expectation of obtainment and d) to expect with confidence. Even as scripture admonishes us to live in harmony with one another, we must maintain our hope in God and God alone. It is easy to lose faith and hope in people because we only have one Savior. Can you imagine your life without hope?

Things will not always go according to your plans, don’t lose hope. People will hurt and disappoint you, don’t lose hope. You may not acquire everything you want, don’t lose hope. Realize Jesus is everything you need, don’t lose hope.

During this season it is easy to think about what we don’t have. I pray in the midst of whatever you are going through “the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost,” amen.
