This is Your Wake Up Call!

Praycartion – Dona Nobis Pacem

Beloved, the more we want peace the more peace seems to elude us. We envision countries where people of every hue and ethnic origin are free to live together without fear and prejudice. We dream of communities were poverty does not limit joyful living. We desire neighborhoods where bigotry and fear are not allowed to live. We want places where children can grow and flourish into positive and productive adults and we all want places where mercy and justice are daily realities. The more we want it, the more it seems to elude us.

Wanting it is not the same as working for it. Dreams are wonderful. They will always however, remain illusive unless we wake up and work n our dreams!

Today let us pray for those where conflict stalks the streets and violence erupts regularly around those who dare to hope, dream and love. Let’s pray for Israel and Palestine, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq, Haiti and Honduras and the Ukraine.

The stolen girls still need to be rescued and returned to their families in Nigeria. Have we forgotten so soon?!

Let’s pray for Ferguson, Missouri. Injustice fuels unchecked anger. This anger is banked like a camper’s campfire at night. The fire never goes out but it smolders ready to flame at anytime. What could be a great resource of protection then becomes a means of destruction.

If we would only pursue justice here at home the same way we pursue injustice beyond our own borders.

Praycation, the conference began last night in a grotto in San Antonio. It was a powerful night of prayer and song! Keep  praying for us while we are praying for you!

Let us pray:

Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!
Psalm 43:1

Eternal God Almighty, from whom all of the earth’s nations and people have been made. We appreciate the diversity of your creation and the wide spectrum of hues, kindred and tribes. We appreciate that we come from many walks and ways. Apart, we long to be one. Together we rejoice in our diversity. Teach us to probe beneath the surface, beyond skin tones and external divergences to the substance of who you created us to be.

Lead us to find the harmony that unites us and establish us into one communion of peace and respect. Lead us to value the worth of humanity excluding none of our brothers and sisters. Help us to find common ground and a common agenda so that unresolved issues do not derail the beloved community of the apostle John and the prophet Martin Luther King Jr. Help us to make the sacrifices necessary to build a strong community and a strong country.

Let us rise this day to become heralds of your righteousness, bearers of peace and agents of your love. In the strong name of Jesus. Amen.
