The Lenten Journey 2015 – Spring Forward!

“Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?

Isaiah 43:19(KJV)

This weekend most of the United States, Canada and Great Britain moved from Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time. It is a March ritual in which we advance our clocks ahead one hour so that we can enjoy more daylight in the evening. The time change also reflects a transition in seasons. It tells us that fall/winter is passing away and that spring and summer are just on the horizon. To prepare for this transition we are simply reminded to Spring Forward!

During this season of Lent we should take seriously this command to Spring Forward in all areas of our life. The scripture above holds promises of the new springing forward in a moment to those who are the redeemed. God is the God of perfect timing. He is the God who brings opportunities for a “suddenly”, “straightway”, or “in the fullness of time” to come to pass in your life. But we have to be able to discern the “time change.” We have to be able to discern his move, discern the shift, discern the season and stay in concert with him. Far too often God’s children are not springing forward (advancing, moving ahead) but are falling back. We fall back into the same old spiritual ruts, mindsets, attitudes, boundaries that produce no forward motion. Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth.

The dormant season is over and new life begins to break through, bud and bloom. Jesus is our spring board to newness. He reminds us that the light of the world has come. The more our life reflects Jesus the more darkness decreases and the light increases. Take full advantage of this Lenten season to Spring Forward so that you can enjoy more light in your life everyday through Jesus, our Savior.

Let us Pray:

Oh Lord help us to know that you are working even in the winter seasons of our lives. Help us to stay in harmony with you as you shift us into new seasons. Show us the areas where we need to allow you to do a new work in us. We thank you for being the God who makes all things new.

BELOVED,

In many places it does’t look like spring will ever come while in others the smell of spring is in the air! Nevertheless, lift your eyes to the horizon to the next productive season in your life! God is doing a new thing. Can you discern what it is?

What an awesome, timely and prophetic word to propel us forward into God’s perfect timing! I’m excited about the new ‘thing’ God is springing forth. I want to encourage everyone to see the budding of the new flowers, hear the singing of the birds and speak new life to your dreams that have been put on a shelf. This is our new season!!

Thank you Bishop McKenzie! Thank you Rev. Bryant-Honors!
