The Lenten Journey 2015 – Seek What’s In Your Heart

get-attachment-26.aspx_-160x20031 Samuel 16:1-7

Participating in Lenten journeys has given me the opportunity to reflect upon the last days that Jesus lived during his life on earth. And, it also has enlightened me to what is deep in my heart to myself, exposed my heart to others, while all that is in my heart is known to God, as I live my journey with daily conditions of fasting, praying and meditation.

At this point in my Lenten journey, of course, I have yearned for and have been tempted by the very things that “I” chose to do without. With denying my yearnings and temptations, heartfelt lessons have come to life. Fasting has taught me that I waste food and my heart has reminded me of hungry people in the world that could live off of the very food that I waste. Praying has taught me to keep silent to wrong situations that I have no control over in hopes that God’s grace would make them right. I also learned that there is something about the concentrated affects of praying from my heart that have given me a change of heart, and, has allowed me to let go of every situation in my life and let God be God in my life. All things do happen for a reason.

Finally, meditation on God’s word has humbled my heart while teaching me to be less judgmental of others lives and that everybody’s life is a lesson from God to someone.

Make time this Lenten season and seek what’s in your heart and allow the affects of fasting, praying and meditation to be a learning experience as the Lord watch over you. It is written… “The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
