The Lenten Journey 2015 – My God is Big that I walk to the Garden Alone

CaldwellPsalm 36:5-11

Today’s scripture shows the vastness and at the same time personal nature of God. It reminds of me of the youth song, “My God is so big, so strong and so mighty; there’s nothing my God cannot do”. We would flex our biceps to illustrate how big our God was as we sang the song. On the other hand, it reminds me of the hymn, “I come to the Garden alone” which illustrates how we can a very intimate relationship as we sing the refrain, “He tells me I am His own”.

Then, the scripture reminds us that God not only takes care of our spiritual needs, but provides on a physical level with food and drink. Amazing, He can be the all-powerful sovereign leader who forged creation with His words with tenderly listen to our simple plea of “has mercy on me, a sinner.”

In response, to this kindness, all the writer (and we) ask is that the Lord doesn’t forget about us that love Him. We also ask that he protect us from the evil influences because without him, we are lost.
As we look at the Cross, we need to remind ourselves that our God can handle the Universe and little ole us in every capacity. My God is so Big, So Strong and so Mighty…that I walk to the Garden Alone and He tells me I am His own.
