This is Your Wake Up Call!

Tell Me Something Good!

86509726“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”

Have you ever told that lie? We all know very well that long after the sting of a switch or the scrape of concrete was healed, the wounds of hateful words still ached. The book of James tells us that the power of life and death are in the tongue. How many relationships have been destroyed because of rumors and lies? How many people have been plagued with poor self-esteem because of unkind words? How many dreams have been cast aside because of discouraging words? How many chapter meetings were disrupted by words that hurt?

Someone once told me that harsh words were like nails hammered into a board. You could remove the nails but the holes would still be there. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can truly mend and repair the damage that comes from hurtful words. Speak life. Speak love. Speak hope! Speak Peace! Speak solutions!

Awesome God, forgive me for words I’ve spoken in anger, frustration, and fear. Strengthen me by your Holy Spirit to ask forgiveness of others. Teach me to use my words to bring life to dead and dying situations. Empower me to let the words of my mouth be acceptable to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

This week  make a strong effort to tell someone something good. Write a note, send a text or email and share with another Soror words of encouragement. Tell her what you like about her! Tell her why she is special to you! Tell her something good!
