If I knew then what I know now…

slave-old-man

Sometimes we base our decisions and actions upon a preconceived result. If someone is beneficial to our career or family, we’ll become friends.  If something is convenient, we’ll take the time to participate. If I feel like it, I’ll say hello to a neighbor. If being kind to another fits into my busy agenda, it will get done.

It is the “If I knew then what I know now” syndrome. If you knew what the results were in the end, your behavior is different in the beginning.

It’s a new year! We don’t know what’s up ahead, but we do know that tomorrow is already on the viewscreen of heaven. Be determined in 2018 to spend quality time with a God who calls us to greater. As I suggest in my new book The Big Deal of Taking Small Steps to Move Closer to God, start small and build your alone time with the Lord. Small successes snowball into greater momentum!

  1. Joyce Brooks says:

If I knew then what I know now… That is something tat I have been saying almost everyday for a couple of weeks. I started a transitional home for the persons transitioning out of homelessness in July. I leased the home from someone that I called friend. She knew my plans in the ministry to the homeless and the sacrifices made to start it. She did not tell me that the house that she was leasing me was “patched together”. Patched up wiring. Patched up plumbing. TO make a long story short by mid January the house was inhabitable. Thanks be to God all have been transitioned to permanent housing but I keep asking God what was I to learn from this experience. I’m still seeking answers. Of course I’ve been saying “If I knew then what I knew now I would have never leased that house”. But…we were able to help others during this mess. And I am prayerful that when “Kingdom Homes” returns it will be better than before. Wow…I think I just received some peace. Praise God.
