This is Your Wake Up Call!

COVID-19 Chronicles – Body Care

i-vw58Lcr-X5“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)

Beloved, I know that this is the only body I have, but sometimes it is hard doing body care. Our agendas are tight and meals are caught on the run. We start the day too early and end too late.

Full disclosure…I can find more unhealthy choices than healthy ones and … sometimes my body and I fall out with each other! You?!

During this uncertain season fueled by fear, cancelations and closings, look for ways  to make healthy decisions to take care of our body temple. If you are always always concerned for others more than yourself, you’re putting yourself at the bottom of your own “to do” list.

Body care is essential. Self-care is not selfish. It’s being sure you’re honoring God with your body by taking care of your body temple. It’s ok to pamper yourself sometimes!

Circumstances are forcing some of us to work from home or stay home. We can turn this crisis into an opportunity try out new healthy recipes or a new exercise routine. Take a walk. Breathe. Breathe deeply. Meditate on the Word. Be still and listen to the still small voice of God for a change. Center your thoughts on one of the promises of God or a positive affirmation daily.

I need rest, you need rest and all God’s children need rest. Since proper rest is essential for us to keep these vessels intact, go to bed early, sleep in late, take naps…or do all the things you said you were going to do, if you had time.

God is a healer, and God gives us wisdom to help us take care of ourselves. Love the skin you’re in whether it is smoothed or weathered, firm or flabby or dry and moist.

Today, turn off the bad new and find the good news. Wash your hands and work on you. Walk slower and dream more. Structure your day in prayer.

Find ways to show care responsibly and take care of you! You’re the only you there is!

Let us pray:
Healer, help us to make the healthy choices that honor you in our bodies. In Jesus name, Amen.
